This is a reminder to my loving husband that he needs to go through the baby book of names so we can start picking one for a boy and a girl. We have two tentative ones chosen but nothing official, and ofcourse it's a secret until we know the sex ;) (How else would I keep you all reading the blog?)

14 Weeks

14 Weeks Pregnant

Size = 3 1/2 inches
Weight = 1 oz

Your baby now has fingerprints! He actually created them himself while swimming around in the amniotic fluid. As he moved his hands, the skin on the tips of his fingers formed unique ridges and folds. That's why no one on earth has the same fingerprints, not even identical twins!

Baby's arms are now in proportion to his tiny body, but his legs are still on the short size in comparison.

Meconium, that tar-like, sticky first baby poop, is now loading up your baby's intestines, which means you might want to set aside a bottle of olive oil, one of the few things that will get the gooey poop off of baby's bottom.

Your baby continues to gain new and impressive skills such as practicing and controlling voluntary muscle movements. Your tiny dancer's movements are no longer the jerky, uncontrollable twitches of yore—he now moves with graceful control.

Your baby is now weighs about an ounce and is the length of a flip phone, or roughly 3.5 inches—he's tripled in size from a mere three weeks ago!

How it all went down.

First I just want to say "There should be a law against disallowing pregnant woman to not eat past midnight when they don't even have surgery until 2pm!" (love ya dad!, hehehehe)

8:00: am alarm went off, took a shower, then I wasn't allowed to put anything on my skin or hair after that. No hairspray :\

9:00: called mom for her daily update

9:15: Jason ate his breakfast in the bedroom I think so I wouldn't be tempted :) Wasn't he sweet I didn't even tell him to do that!

9:45: We were on the road

10:15: Arrived at the hospital and went to registration

10:30: All registered and then went to sit in the lab for blood work

11:00: they take blood and ask me to pee in a cup (cause I had SO much fluid to expel, lol, needless to say they didn't get much) Was told to sit in the lab to wait for a nurse.

11:30: Nurse came and then realized I already did what they thought I didn't do so they sent me on my way

11:40: Was sitting in Kassis office for me PreOp appointment

12:00: Got called in, went from one room to another, they asked for more pee :\ Checked my weight, blood pressure, pulse, and baby's heartbeat (160). Kassis (uncle doc) came in and gave me a looksie, had his intern check my lungs and heart. Asked me for last minute questions. I asked about what my bedrest situation would be...he said modified. That pretty much any time I was just hanging around the house to be laying down. That I could go out on occasion to eat, etc. (YAY!). I also asked for another ultrasound to be done in two weeks instead of waiting the four, he gave me orders. He also had me take my antibiotic.

12:30: Got to ambulatory surgery. Had to wait they didn't have a room for me.

12:50: Got brought back to my room, room 7. Stripped down. They took my vitals and then the wait begins. At some point they sent another person down to check the baby's heartbeat. Talked to the anesthesiologist (who had me use my inhaler), many nurses, signed lots of papers, etc.

2:00: They came to get me. I put my hair in the hair net and off we went. Jason was sent to a waiting room and I was wheeled into one, lol. At some point after 2 I was wheeled into the operating room. Were they did the IV and all that jazz. They were nice this time and kept me all covered up before exposing me to the room of people while I was wake. Took the baby's heart rate again (156) Then I went to sleep.

3:00: Woke up later as they were wheeling me back to my room, no recovery room. They gathered Jason on the way.

4:00: They gave me some food, lots of water and waited for me to have to pee.

4:30: I finally peed

5:00: I was discharged.

6:00: I decided to take a Tylenol...don't know why I waited. After it kicked in I felt NO PAIN :) Yay!

And by 6:30 we were eating pizza with Tom and his parents :)

What a day :)

Cerclage is In

The surgery went well. I'm sore, but thats to be expected. It was a LONG day with no food, but it's pizza for supper so Yay! I see my normal doc in a week and then in two weeks I have another ultrasound. They did prescribe Percocet but suggested I refrain from taking it unless I REALLY have to...so it's just tylenol for now. We didn't even fill that prescription. A little tired, but things went alright. I need to rest this week and then after that I was given the okay to occasionally take off for a meal out or something like that, but mostly need to be horizontal. Dr. said that my cervix will no longer be dilated, due to the cerclage. And that his 50% explanation meant I"m 50% less than a normal cervical length...but said things looked good down there. On to recovery...

Cerclage Surgery

Well after much deliberating and crying I felt it was only right to move the surgery to this Monday like the doc wanted. I mean I want to look back and say I did everything I could for little peanut too...so here is the count down.

Surgery is set for Monday January 26th at 2pm but we will be at the hospital from 10 am on for all the before crap. This time I SHOULDN'T go into preterm labor since I'm not as far along, but you never know I guess. It sucks my cervix is changing this early :/ It doesn't give me high hopes for going to full term so the count down now begins for viability and then on....

And the Bad News Begins :\

First the baby is fine. We didn't have an ultrasound today but an appointment to meet with the doc who will be doing the cerclage.

Apparently I am already dilated some and he claims my cervix is 50% gone. Not sure HOW he figured that out when my ultrasounds keeps showing me at 3.9 and 3 and higher is good.

The ultrasound did show "fluid" in my cervix which he claims is me being dilated, that they didn't catch the dilating.

Regardless my surgery is scheduled for February 2nd, don't know the time yet but that will be the day.

So much for better luck this year :\

13 Weeks Preggo!

13 Weeks Pregnant

Size = 3 inches
Weight = 20 grams

Your baby can make a fist and even suck his or her thumb this week.
Your baby's eyelids are fused shut to protect his eyes as they develop. His bones and skull are solidifying and soon itsy-bitsy ribs may appear.
Baby's intestines are finally right where you want them—in his or her belly instead of poking out into the umbilical cord. Baby's tooth sockets are all loaded and ready to pop out baby teeth six or seven months after baby is born.

Your baby-to-be now weighs about 20 grams and is nearly
3 inches long, or about the size of a Nutter Butter.

Second Trimester

YAY! We made it :) Now the really hard part begins :\

Ultrasound Friday, then appointment Wednesday to talk about cerclage surgery. I'm aiming for the first week of February since I want to be vertical for my birthday this year. And I don't want the surgery the same week Kaitlin was born last year, so first week of February is pretty much the only window we have, hopefully it works out :)

12 Weeks Preggo!

12 Weeks Pregnant

Size: 2 1/2 inches
Weight: 1/2 ounce

Baby's face is looking more human as his eyes have moved to the
front of his head and his ears are in place.

Your baby is able to swallow this week and practices on the amniotic fluid he or she floats in. And in case you're wondering how your kid can breathe in all that fluid, here's your answer: Fetuses get oxygen from the blood pumped into their bodies by the placenta and don't breathe with their lungs. Mystery solved!

This is kind of gross, albeit fascinating, so feel free to skip ahead: Your baby's intestines are well under way, but they aren't all where you'd expect them to be. Instead of all being locked away in the body cavity, some are dangling on the outside, in the umbilical cord. Ewwww.

Junior has doubled in size over the past two weeks and now weighs almost ½ ounce. He's also now around 2 ½ inches long, about the length of your pinky finger or a Vienna sausage.

Maternity Clothes

I officially can no longer at all (and it's been over a week) fit in my old jeans. Maybe with a couple of rubber bands it would work, but maternity jeans are just so much easier, so i've made the switch. I'm also finding my t-shirts less roomy, so time to dig out the shirts as well. Which is nice, I look more pregnant now than just fat ;) I obviously can't fill a whole belly panel yet but the ones with the band all the way around fit nicely :) I'm just a *little* to small to hold them perfectly, but I'm sure it won't be long (I predict next week). Besides I think I want to dawn these clothes while I can :)

I'm feeling it!

So other signs that I'm growing something in there:

I can no longer suck my tummy in.

When I lay down I still have the hump (think whale, lol).

I'm quickly loosing what little curve I had in my waist.

I have a constant bloated feeling since things are pushing on other things.

I think I have felt the kiddo move a few times, they are light still and not constant.

My tummy is definitely larger than before.

And the depth of my belly button is beginning to shrink :\ ( ;) )

SECOND TRIMESTER is just around the corner!!! YAY!

Government Has Just Gone Too Far

Okay seriously I would LOVE to know how many large name children's companies had a hand in this one! Thrift stores, Consignment Shops, Homemade Toy Makers and Homemade Baby Clothing Makers will no longer be able to see anything meant for a child under the age of 12 on February 10th of this year!

Seriously! Read it all here

Docs Appointment

So had a routine appointment this morning. Nothing really to report. We didn't even get a heartbeat since the baby wasn't in the greatest position to read it, but it's still beating. The hemorrhage is still there, but with no more discharge as of recent Doc thinks it's probably reabsorbing. Or at any rate they take awhile to correct themselves.

Asked about using my inhaler since my asthma seems to be kicking it in high gear recently. Between the cats and the dust around here, i've had a to use it a number of times. But we were given the green light on that one too :)

The only thing that came up wrong at the appointment is that they have me at 10 weeks and 4 days...which I don't know how thats possible. It's not based on an ultrasound measurement but on the wheelies they have that do the calculations for them. According to EVERY Internet thing I've check I'm 11 weeks 2 days. Doc said it's doesn't make that much of a difference so not to worry about it. Since everything I have is based on what I've already found I'm sticking to the 11 weeks 2 days. Due date is still July 29th from both cases (which is why I'm SO confused!)

11 Weeks Preggo!

11 Weeks Pregnant

Size : 2 inches
Weight: 1/3 ounce

All of your baby's vital organs are now formed and functioning, so the risk of defects decreases this week as your baby becomes less susceptible to outside influences.

Baby's ears are assuming their proper place this week and the fingernail and toenail beds are beginning to form. Your little "pumpkin head" really lives up to his nickname as his head is nearly as big as the rest of his body.

Your baby now weighs a third of an ounce, about the same as two small, Starbucks-sized packets of sugar, is about 2 inches long, the length of one of those sugar packets.

Sharp Pain

Last night I thought I had gotten a sharp pain in my right side, but since I can't ever seem to remember what's reality and what's a dream in the middle of the night I didn't think much of it. Then today I went to grab something and got it again in my right side, low by my uterus. I'm not worried about it since it very much is acting like a pulled muscle or ligament pain, since it doesn't hurt unless I move.

Even though it hurts is a good sign that the baby is growing :)

Tomorrow I'm 11 weeks :) almost done the first trimester! :) Yay!

Chips and Dip...NO THANK YOU!

So I've discovered something, me and chips with French Onion dip no longer get along. Tonight has been the closest I've come to puking and it's not because my tummy is upset but I can't stand all the burping and the nasty taste of the dip :\ I've tried EVERYTHING to mask it, nothing seems to be working, I wish it would just get out of my stomach. BLAH!
