Hard Kick

I think my little gal is loosing her room to move. I don't get kicked as much as I used to :\ But she does roll an awful lot when she's active! And wiggles! Although some of her wiggles sort of hurts my pelvic bone...:\ I still don't feel her much on right side since thats where my placenta is :\ But when she positioned right I can feel EVERYTHING on my left and really low. She just never seemd to be a major kicker, so no soccer players here I think...

Oh in the video the super hard kick comes later towards the end. You WON'T miss if your watching it. It happens a little after 30 seconds in. She does wiggle and move alittle bit before that one, but the big kick is the easiest to see.

Nothing really to report. Jason will be going to the docs this week since his knee is causing him issues again :\ After the problems he had this morning we are hoping to get him Monday. Then we have another ultrasound, appointment and our first NST (non stress test) Thursday. Fingers crossed for good 3d pics!

And You Thought *Your* Download Was Long...

Tom sent me this and I HAD to share it :)

4.65 Terabytes. That's how big a baby is. Well, on a T1. Takes 40 weeks to get it to where it's supposed to be. Course, we didn't figure in latency or protocol headers or jitter (Ed. note: never jitter the baby), so it could be a little longer. And if you get an early EOF, the NICU's there for any recovery and whatnot that needs to be done. All joking aside, we wish you and your little one a happy and uneventful pregnancy, and your future geek all the best. And don't sit your tiny wailing banshee next to us at the restaurant. thx.

Nursery in the Rough

I say in the rough because I'm not 100% happy with it yet.
I do like the top shelf with the lamp and snail bank. The border is the only pooh in the room, lol. I loved how it matched my colors. The rest of the shelves nee to be changed though. I might actually use the book shelf for books in the end, lol...
I do like our changing station area...

These shelves still need organizing. Since we don't have everything yet but they are getting closer to done. Its hard to figure out where to put things since this room has been our "pantry" for so long so right now Emilie has to share her space...but there is plenty of space to share!

The rocking chair is just fine where it is, and the rack beside it will be perfect for burp clothes and water bottles.

Then there is the crib corner. I do like her name on the wall but I feel it over powers the quilt. I might go back to my original quilt that was there, but the white of this one helps to really brighten the room up....I do have a few other wall things to use too. But I need more time and it's need to all be washed anyways.

I did accomplish two of the things I wanted to today in the nursery. I wanted to get her name on the wall and empty the crib. We read that if you put sticky stuff face up in the crib it will deter the cat from getting into it. So I taped down some contact paper stick side up ALL over the mattress. So when kitties jump in they are going to be surprised, lol :)

On a side note...miss emilie has had the hiccups all the while I was writing this post ;)

Baby Xavier was born!

Xavier Cristian Lafontant
Born May 21, 2009
at 12:01 pm
8lbs 14oz.
21 inches

I have a hunch Emilie and him will be playing in the dirt together next summer :)
This summer they might just exchange a few coos, lol :)

He's a big boy in terms of normal newborn standards, but compared to what I was used to at the daycare he's SOOOO tiny!!! I have to say visiting them took away some of my fears about having a newborn around :) It was nice, and he was such a good boy...he slept the whole time...so that means he was probably up all night for daddy :\ But still a little cutie!!

31 weeks pregnant!!!

31 Weeks Pregnant
Size = 16 inches
Weight = 3 1/2 pounds

During week 31 of pregnancy, your baby's growth will begin to slow; however, he or she will still gain about 2 pounds between now and birth.
Your baby's brain is going through a period of rapid development increasing the number of connections between nerve cells.
Rather than hearing vibrations, your baby can now hear distinct sounds, like familiar voices and music.
Other fetal development that is occurring around week 31 of pregnancy includes:
  • The lungs and digestive tract are nearly mature
  • The baby can see in the womb
  • The eyebrows and eyelashes are complete.
Due to increasing space constraints, your baby's arms and legs stay drawn up close to the body now, known as the fetal position (oh, so that's where that name came from!). Plus, your baby can now process information from all five senses—so she'll be all set to smell the pureed peas, taste them, feel them as she mashes them into her hair, hear you crack up and then see the flash as you grab the camera to snap picture after picture.

THANK YOU LADIES!!

I received two packages last week, and both were from some wonderful internet friends I have :)
The above is from Candace who I met on sparkpeople. She is actually due three days after I am!! And we are both carrying girls :)

The other gift I received from Erin who is a fellow IC sufferer. We met on Cafemom. She is due a week ahead of me with a little boy :) She sent me some decorations for the nursery so I plan on taking my pics of them when I get them all put up and situated :) However having them makes me want to get in there sooner than later!!

Pillownaut

I just wanted to share this article a person sent me. They are looking in the wrong place for people willing to do the study, lol. All they have to do is ask pregnant patients with IC! We know ALL about it. Even the head tipped down position! She makes it's sound to wonderful, but then I guess I might too if I had the catering she did. Even in the hospital things where THAT good, lol.

30 Week Belly Kicks Video

If you watch the upper right hand side of my belly. The portion between my belly button and the edge of tummy you will see some good kicks. You see one and then about 5ish seconds later you see a nice set of pows. I think I can also see her moving my belly around but I don't know if others can. You should see the kicks though. This was a mild night however. She has her moments where you can see my whole belly jiggle and bounce. She just refuses to do it if someone is touching my belly...Jason has to keep his hands there for awhile at time to feel anything. I think the touch soothes her, or she's just stubborn, lol. She's the spawn of Jason and I, so I go with stubborn over soothe.

I'm going to keep trying to get a clip for when she's really fired up. I have 20ish clips to get this one, so you imagine what my night is like when I try to catch her ;) lol. It will be much easier when she's on the outside, I hope :)

30 week appointment

So no ultrasound today, so no baby pics...so instead a video of the kitty sleeping on my tummy :)

Nothing really new to report. I will be getting the cerclage out in 6 weeks!! Which seems so surreal!!
Heartbeat sounds good, she even moved around for the doc and showed her an excel.

I told her about some of the cramping I get while constipated and that I had some pulling so she did a manual exam, cervix is still long and hard. No tension on the stitch so everything looks great :)

I gave my doc a present for her new baby boy :) It's the jacket below (with buttons on it) and a hat.

I start NSTs (Non Stress Tests) next appointment (in two weeks). And then after that appointment I start going weekly! NSTs are just where they hook you up to the machine and get a heart rate on the babe and also watch your uterus for contractions. Nothing major, pretty standard.

An ultrasound will be done next appointment :) I think my normal doc would have con't doing them each appointment so I'm happy about that, I love seeing the little bean!

Lastly she did give me the okay to get up a little more here and there, which means basically what I've been doing this last week is okay. I've been cooking, on my feet more getting ready for our garage sale, and trying to clean more, but I find bending over is difficult. I also have had more outings than what I probably should have been ;) So still need to stay close to home, I didn't even ask her about travel...I wouldn't be comfy with it and I doubt she would okay it, but yay for things being alright!!!

We made it to the 30s!!

We are now starting the 10 week countdown!!

30 Weeks Pregnant

Weight = 3lbs
Length = 15 1/2 inches

At week 30 of pregnancy, your baby can pee about a half a liter into the amniotic fluid every day!
Other fetal development that is occurring around week 30 of pregnancy includes the following:
  • In female babies, the clitoris appears large and exposed because it is not yet covered by the folds of the skin called the labia.
  • The baby's head is getting larger.
  • The early lanugo is disappearing. There are still patches on the back and shoulders.
  • The eyelids open and close. Much of the time your baby has its eyes open and is looking around.
  • The bone marrow is now responsible for making red blood cells.
In preparation for breathing after birth, your baby will mimic breathing movements by repeatedly moving the diaphragm. These movements are rhythmic and may even cause your baby to get a case of the hiccups if amniotic fluid is accidentally inhaled. This is normal -- do not be concerned.

Big news for baby's brain this week: It's starting to wrinkle and fold and looks like something that grew in the back of your fridge. This is due to the rapid growth of your little genius's brain cells. Fingernails and toenails are finally finished.

Look at the Balls!

I've been busy ;) I've had these done for awhile. They took me about two days. Not of constant crocheting but enough to make me have to bring the wrist brace from retirement for a few nights :\ But they are all done. I made them in cotton yarn so they are alot like the homemade dishclothes. I filled them will fill from an extra pillow we had :) I know at work the kiddos LOVED the soft balls since they would squish in their mouths and they could carry them around like they were a doggies, lol. So I made for Emilie and her future siblings. The best part totally washable and if they rip mommy can make another one!
Here's the bag I made for them too! I took the pattern entirely from my head so I don't think I could repeat if I wanted to, lol.

Alright THIS is probably my absolute FAVORITE item I've bought so far!! I'm SO excited about it! It's a photo album for Emile! I'm going to put her pic in the front and then as I get a nice picture of her with her grandparents and uncles I'm going to put them in there. Babies LOVE faces :) I also want her familiar with those faces so when we do see them guys she doesn't shy away as much...well thats the hope anyways. Each page is made of a nice and sturdy plastic and you slip the pick inside of like an envelope so it's protected on all sides. So barring taking baths with it, it's pretty durable in baby terms :) So worth it!!

Oh for anyone intersted the above is by Baby Einstien (incase the graphics didn't give it away ;) ) and I think it's called Baby's First Photo Album or something like that. Each page has one of the characters on it too.

The Birth Plan...

(from the sarcastic journal)

Somewhere along in the Grand Scheme of All Things Vagina Related, a person came up with the idea of having “A Birth Plan.”

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about (I guess you’ve been staying away from those pregnancy message boards like I told you to!) a birth plan is basically self-explanatory. It is a plan on how you want to give birth.

The births of my two children couldn’t have been any more different. When my daughter was born in July of 2004, I had suffered through a long and stressful pregnancy. My plan was this: Have a baby with the least amount of pain possible. In fact, if I could have the baby while asleep, that would be great.

I did no research on the topic of baby-having. Why would I? I wanted to have an epidural the first second I felt any discomfort. Needless to say, when I did start having contractions, I totally freaked out.

With my second child, I tried more advance planning. I researched things on the Internet. I read books and went to message boards where women discussed the pros and cons of having epidurals. I learned about the types of drugs available. I listened to Hypnobirthing CDs and tried to put myself in a good frame of mind.

I even wrote a birth plan. Basically it went like this: I want to do what I want to do and you can’t stop me!

I know of many women that were a little uptight with the planning of their births. They wanted copies printed out and handed off to nurses at the hospital. They drilled their doctors during checkups on what was and wasn’t allowed.

Here’s what it boils down to, especially if this is your first child: It is good to have wishes. It is GREAT to educate yourself on the process of birth and what is or isn’t available. But, when a human being is coming out of your “vajayjay,” things get messy. You might want drugs. You may decide you want to squat on all fours and bark like a dog. You may decide to denounce all men for their ability to produce sperm.

When you are down on all fours, barking like a dog, handing out said birth plan will probably be one of the last things on your mind. And? That’s okay. Just bark at anyone who doesn’t do things the way you like. You might get known as the “Crazy in room 203,” but heck, at least you’ll get things done the way you want.

What the Babe Looks Like...

...all cramped up inside me right now....

Cravings

So I've noticed it seems I do get more cravings. They don't seem like crazy OMG if I don't get it now I'm going to kill someone cravings, but I do find I get a certain idea/taste in my mouth and just WANT it :)

Recently it's been Lucky Charms. I do believe it stemmed from my doc mentioning NOT to eat them before my GD test...and now I eat them every morning and I look forward to eating them every morning, lol.

I can tell you that I STILL haven't touched a chicken patty since my first trimester, early second. I just haven't had ANY kind of drive to eat one and the thought of one gags me. But I will eat chicken.

My cravings do seem to be for sweet things and sausage and peppers. I really love red peppers and sausage cooked int sauce :) I really like the Bertolli Sausage & Rigatoni Skillet Dinner. But the sausage has just been a last week or so thing. Oh and cooked onions...which Friendly's just came out with the new French Dip burger, which is awesome! (not the dipping sauce though).

New Territory

Kaitlin was born at 10:04 am the day after we reached 29 weeks.

That means that right now I am officially more pregnant than I ever have been.
I have to say it's a little weird now that I know what a baby at this gestation looks like on the outside, that something like that can be all folded up inside me right now. But thats where I would want to keep her for atleast another 8 weeks :)

Things Made for Emilie

So i've been busy making a few things for this little bean :)

Here is a newborn hat :) This took me longer than a normal hat since I used fingering yarn so it would be really fine and delicate. I wanted something that would be warm but light since it will be summer. I have more yarn but in different colors so I might make a few more and make one to bring her home in :) Since I never found matching hats for the set I like.

This is a 3-6 month sweater. I tried a new pattern and really like it!
I haven't decided which side I like better to call the front :)
It's supposed to be the nonbutton side, but I like the buttons and ribbon.
I also might try to make a few more of these in different sizes.

29 Weeks Pregnant!

29 Weeks Pregnant

Size = 15 inches
Weight= 3lbs

As your baby continues to grow during week 29 of pregnancy, his or her movements will become more frequent and vigorous. Some of the movements may even take your breath away! If you notice a decrease in movement from your baby, you should do a fetal kick count by counting the number of times that your baby moves in one hour. By the time you are 29 weeks pregnant, your baby should move at least 10 times in one hour. If your baby moves less than 10 times, talk to your healthcare provider.
When you are 29 weeks pregnant, your baby has also learned to use its brain to control primitive breathing. This means that if your baby is born now, he or she could probably breathe independently. He or she is also a lot better at controlling body temperature at this point in your pregnancy.
Other fetal development that is occurring around week 29 of pregnancy includes the following:
  • The baby will be able to turn his or her head to find the source of a bright light. Your baby is continuing to become more sensitive to sounds, tastes, and smells.
  • The fat layers will continue to form.
  • The head is in proportion to the rest of the body.
  • The eyes can move in the sockets.
  • The bones are fully developed, but they are still soft and pliable.
  • The baby will begin to store iron, calcium, and phosphorus.
During week 29 of pregnancy, your baby's adrenal glands (glands right above the kidneys) will begin to produce hormones such as androgen. These hormones will travel to the placenta and stimulate it to make estrogen. This estrogen will stimulate your body to form the hormone prolactin.
Prolactin is a hormone that will cause you to make colostrum, which is the milk that will feed your baby in the first few days after birth, if you choose to breastfeed. Colostrum is richer in protein and lower in fat and milk sugar than the breast milk that comes a few days after delivery. It also contains antibodies that may help protect your baby from disease.

Registered

So Target sent me a gift card saying that if I created a baby registry I could get a $20 gift card. So I created one :) It's under both Jason's and my name. It will also help since I have a few girls down here planning me a baby shower :) So guests might have an idea of something they can buy if they want to. We are down to basic things, like bath soap, toys of all kinds (except stuffed animals), books, diapers and all things that come with diapering. The last big thing for us to buy is the our last marker buy which will be the swing ;)

What a Day!

First I'm 28 weeks today WooWho!!

We asked to stop the FFN tests since they are costing us almost $70 a pop! Thats nuts! So we didn't do one today. Jason was shown how to find the baby...but she's still a little bit tiny so she said it was okay he didn't feel it. But then he also got to try the doppler! Yay for Daddy getting involved :) My blood pressure was good, nothing wrong with me pee. They measured my belly at 29 I think. And they think I've gained 3lbs. According to MY scale and how I'm tracking it I only went up 2lbs and that was after loosing 3 last week, so technically I'm still down 1. Heartrate was between 140 - 160 which I think is normal. I don't know if you normally see that much variation but one was a doppler reading and the other the ultrasound.

GD test came back negative so no diabetes for me! YAY! Maybe thats a good sign that I won't have it later in life?? But righ t now I get to con't eating how I want to...yay!! I had one elevated number but the rest were fine.

Next time I go in my normal doc will be back. Which I'm excited, but also I did like my temp doc so a little sad to see her go.

The doc decided to send me for a chest xray since I still am brining up crud. I also did some other kind of thing where what I brought up got put in a cup for it to be tested. So I went to my ultrasound appointment and brought the xray stuff along.

So they brought me back to xray had me put on this 3 arm hole gown. Which does NOT cover large pregnant boobs! So..I sat there and told the guy I was pregnant. He was almost shocked acting (I guess the pregnant belly didn't tip him off). So they had us sit. Something about double checking the order. I was asked if my doc knew I was pregnant. I was like ya...she's my OB. So we waited and then I told them about having an ultrasound scheduled at 10:30, so they had me go back to the public big waiting room, still in my nonboob covering gown to wait for my ultrasound. Well he started by taking us the longest way possible to ultrasound and they informed him to go have me wait since they didn't have a room ready...

So we waited, then went to ultrasound...which the room was REALLY warm today. The ultrasound tech was the same guy that did Kaitlin's echocargiogram. He tried to get a 3d, but this little bean likes to keep her arms over her face. So that was the best he could do. I told him about the 3d pic of her sex, and he doesn't believe that they could do that, so I THOUGHT I had the pic with me so we went to pull it out to show him and we couldn't find it!! I was so upset!!
My cervix doesn't look changed at all. The measurements were all about the samish. So YAY for that!! At this point it might start shortening a little, but thats totally normal.

Emilie weighs roughly 2lbs 13oz.
And they finally got a pic of her spine! I think everything else was fine. Her bladder was full again, which he said means her kidneys are working :)
The below pic I think is of her foot all extended out...I think most of the feelings I feel are from her head/hands. Since she's head down and I feel LOTS of movement down low and during the ultrasound she was rolling a little back and forth.

So they finished up with me in ultrasound and then it was back to the main waiting room for xray, in my special gown. They called me back and triple sheilded my belly and had me do two xrays. Which really they shouldn't effect the baby or i would of protested more about doing them. I had already done my research on that before now so I'm not worried about them :) Then I got to get dressed!

We had to wait what seemed liked forever for the car. Jason wants to stop using the valet, but it's just such a long walk! :\ Plus they aren't always that bad.

So I dropped Jason off. I was upset about the picture, even though I do have a digital copy of it.
I went to Kmart and bought a few more babu trinkets. I know I need to stop especially with the baby shower the girls are planning :) There won't be anything left for anyone to buy, lol. But I did it anyways. I also got another maternity shirt since it was $5. So then I went to Mcdonalds for lunch. There was a HUGE drive through line so I walked in. Then I needed to stop into the post office. Which had a HUGE line! I paid a little more than I thought I would have to to send my Mother's Day package out to my Ravelry gal, but oh well.

I get home, gather all my things, make my way up the driveway, I get into the building and find the picture!!! I must have dropped it on the way out!! YAY!! I get to the top of the stairs and realize I left my keys in my car! URGH! So I drop all my stuff off and walk back down to get them. I get all settled in. Go to eat my Big Mac to find instead of extra pickles they put extra sauce! IT WAS A MESS! But it was yummy :) However an hour later I think I have heartburn from it :\

Now I'm settled in for the day :)

28 Weeks!!!! YAY!!!

28 Weeks Pregnant

Size = 15 inches
Weight = 2-3 lbs

You're now 28 weeks pregnant -- only 13 more weeks to go.
By now, you are probably aware of just about every bathroom in your town. As your baby grows, you will continue to have the need to pee at what seems like every other minute. Just think -- when it comes time for potty training, you will be familiar with all the public bathrooms in your area!

When you are 28 weeks pregnant, your baby is now sleeping and waking at normal intervals. Generally, your activity throughout the day will lull him or her to sleep, and being sedentary at night gives him or her a chance to wake up and be active!
Other fetal development that is occurring around week 28 of pregnancy includes the following:
  • Brain tissue continues to develop
  • The folds and grooves of your baby's brain continue to develop and expand
  • The baby begins to dream
  • The eyes open and close
  • Eyebrows and eyelashes are present
  • Your baby has about 2 to 3 percent body fat, and his or her muscle tone is increasing
  • Although lungs are still immature, they are capable of sustaining life in the event of a premature birth (with some medical help).

March of Babies called!

The woman from the March of Dimes in Syracuse called me yesterday. I was shocked, since it was such a personal touch! She called to congratulate us on raising so much money. Which you know I couldn't have done it without all those who donated and I will never be able to thank you all enough!!!

I told her why we collected so much and she was touched. I'm planning on being more involved next year with the walk. Jen and I have plans to do fund-raisers around town. We are going to "walk" together in memory of our two little ones. She lost a little boy due to a rare form of dwarfism. We both have quite the stories. Which is also why we plan on starting a support group in the area to, which will meet opposite times as the one we both already go to.

I just wanted to send out another BIG THANK YOU. We did it for Kaitlin and I know she's smiling at all of you that helped. (A mother just knows these things ;) ).

Kicked Out of Bed

Okay so not literally BUT for the first time Miss Emilie woke me up kicking. It was strange since in my dream I felt kicks and then a big one woke me up! It was a little annoying since it was 5:30 am and she kept it up for awhile...so mommy lost some sleep...but I guess this is just the beginning!

Appointment tomorrow so plan on another update and more ultrasound picks :) :). I think I'm going to get an orange juice to go from somewhere since she REALLY kicks up a storm so she will be all ready for her detailed ultrasound. I'm also hoping to get some more 3d ones :) But we will see! I don't get as lucky with my ultrasounds after appointments, with the girls...I like the morning gal WAY better!

3 hour GD test today...will update when I know the results.

3 Hour Blood Test

So I went for my 3 hour GD test today, they don't tell you it's FOUR hours :\ Your not allowed to eat anything. I went in around 8:50. They had trouble working the sugar testing machine. So the test got started a little later than what I would have wanted it to. My fasting blood sugar was 101. Which according to the inet is 1 point higher than a normal fasting level BUT not in the range of diabetes. I also had taken my inhaler the night before which I was told could raise blood sugar levels, so who knows.

They then had me drink the orange stuff....bleh. Which they gave me 5 minutes to do it in, I did it in 40 sec. The guy was impressed, lol. Said I should get a prize :) I just wanted to get the stupid test done!

Then they take a vial for a baseline. Then I had to go back at 10:15, 11:15, and 12:15 for more vials. In the mean time I got to eat NOTHING! Jason came to sit with me at the hospital. Which was nice. I know we didn't really talk the whole time, etc. But just having another person there helps to pass the time.

By 12:30 we were on our way out of the hospital, except they took FOREVER to get my car back to me...then I was behind an old lady. I felt like I was going to pass out on the way to lunch. Jason and I went out to Friendly's and I got more and more shaky. I went from hot to cold. It was awful! But I feel better now! I made cookies :) lol. I figure I should get them baked now before I get a call saying I can't eat them, lol. But I passed my test with Kaitlin and I had a million issues with her so I'm hoping for the same results with this one :)

All the jabbing they did reminded me of the image above, an old garbage pail sticker card. My poor arm is a little sore :\ The guy who took my first draw was there for my third and last one. He told the gal doing my second one to use a small needle since they were drawing all of it from my same arm. Then he used small needles both times too. It could be worse! I think it was when I was in the hospital and they did it. I've been through worse blood draws, lol.

But i'm glad that is done!

Oh I had to include this picture when I found it!! It reminds me of winters in the north country!!

March of Babies Walk

The walk was today!!! Yay!!
Here are the guys walking!

This is what I did while the guys were walking :) The chair is even purple which was the color this year for their t-shirts. I think it's normally the color but last year they were periwinklish. We got lots of stuff this year, things I didn't expect we would get since I thought that you only get one of the incentives, but not complaining. I got a new sweatshirt :) And they will be mailing me a $100 Macy's card. Which I'm not sure what I will do with it yet...but cool to have I guess. Really I could careless about the incentives.

Here is everyone who was there :) Yay for Jason not having to walk alone. It was a cold morning so thank you to all who came!! It was greatly appreciated. Next year Jen and I want to staff the registration stand with our combined team...so we will be looking for volunteers to collect money, hand out incentives and possibly cook food...it doesn't take your whole day so even if you can only give an hour or two please think about it!!

And this is Jen and I :) She had her own team there walking for her little man Zachary. Next year we are joining together and calling it something like Our Angels, or something and our t-shirts will have pics of both Zack and Kaitlin.

Here is the graphic that was only my t-shirt:

Again a big thank you to all who donated!! We in deed reached our goal. Which I did also cry when they did the count down to the walk and I probably always will...but thats another story. Any donations received now will go towards next years walk, where the goal won't be so high. BUT here is a cool fact. Kmart in this area brought in $7,000 and we brought in $1,221 :) So doing that ALONE without the convience of a store sponsership is pretty cool!
